Im interested in any info/ pics on polishing to a chrome look the rocker cover on spyder 2008 . i havent seen any examples , on any of the sites , wondering why? Then sealing it, Products, ?, and how to ? Well no replies TO MY POST, so here are a few pics, of progress, valve cover, has the two left and right , spark plug covers removed, and really i did not need to strip those two areas, and those two areas are the most time consuming, After, researching youtube sites, and looking for old materials to use, like a seven year old can of paint stripper, 30 year old wet and dry paper 120 and 140, used a brass wire brush, on sides but i was worried about to deeper scratches, The paint stripper was a waste of time, as the hunter lifan 250fmm valve cover 2008 model, has a light silver paint finish with a heavy undercoat, and the stripper would not react on it, even after leaving it a few hours. Tried putting straight prepsol thinners on test spots, again little or no effect, So my conclusion is best to use steel wool, and wet and dry paper, 120 then 140. The job is not finished yet, I am intending to use less course wet and dry, and then polish it with a wool buff, using chrome polish, but read some where you could uses tart-tar powder paste ( a cooking product , by product of wine industry,, cheaper After that a sealing polish, or pressure pack clear based enamel, for a glass finish

best progress was just manually wet and dry, and steel wool, after this the finer grade wet and dry and buff polishing, and sealing coat

If owners are interest here are pics of finish and polishing by hand at 400 wet paper and polish with "mag & aluminium polish" to compare with final finish with 800 paper then 1200 paper. then the same polish, using white tissue paper Some dare to be different types, may consider stopping at 140 wet and dry, and leaving it with a cross hatched pattern and unpolished First pic is 400 wet and dry then polishing by hand Attachments:

On this post are the final finish,to compare with the 400 finish and polish with the final result of 800 paper then the 1200 paper, then tissue and polish finish. The twenty cent pieces are for you to compare , with bright chrome. I have not used a wool buffing pad, As yet, dont think i will be able to see my face in it, " the mirror effect", but this is up to this stage, wet and dry paper 1200 and polish. Cost was about $1.80, with plenty of paper left over.
