Hi guys starting the (I believe) first ever suicide system for my bobber. Design I had believed was down pat except for one thing. The electronic registration that the clutch is in use (two wires leading up to the left hand controls.
Now I'd assume these are important, but was wondering if they actually are or if this is something that can be overwritten or ignored, as in puts a major flaw into my design (and a lot f extra fabrication).
Does anyone know? This is a want done by the weekend project haha!

I don't think it'll matter about the clutch wires. If its a drama, you could just try joining them together. I'd love to see a jockey shift done, be sure to post pics mate.

Thanks for that Benno.
Will do mate. Finalising pieces tomorrow before sending them off for laser cutting. Will do the rest of the milling fabrication and such in house but don't trust the drill for acurancy on those larger holes. Will suit the stock foot pedal as well.
Even machining up my own gear lever. Not sure what shape to go with just yet so well see where the lathe takes me haha!

Anyone reading this thread. Know of any ships to buy jockey shift knobs? The one I've made is to heavy and acts as a pendulum. So it wants to slip gears.
Update on build: gear lever has been fabricated. Just need to find a knob for it.
Still waiting on parts from the laser cutter to come back ten I can fab it all up on Saturday, providing my laser cutting comes in Friday as I've been promised!

Can't from a mobile. Ill have to swing past mums house haha and upload some. Ill send one through I've got to your email though. Will post up some proper pics once its finished.
I found out that switch allowes me to start the bike in gear provided obviously that the clutch is in.
Stalled it a few times at the lights and took me a minute to realise I had to get it back into Neutral before starting her.
Also I will say this. Suicide shift is a pretty realistic name for it haha. Id be up shit creak without a front break!

Hey Benno, its all up and running. Just finally sorted all the internet out at home so I can upload some photos... Ill put it all in an album under my bobber and a video seeing its such a nice day.
Runs brilliantly, in my opinion, id be keen to find another person on the Mornington peninsula whos ever ridden one (apparently im crazy, whod of thought!) so they can tell me, but it suits me.
I made space for the toggle switch to be rewired in the foot control but havnt bothered rewiring it yet. It allows the bike to be started in gear as long as the clutch is in.
I learnt that by stalling it at the lights and working out that I had to get it back into neutral.
Its pretty easy to get a hang of it, can be a little bit dicey at times but hey that's why it got its name!
I designed it so I could bolt the old original system straight back on if I was going on a longer run or something and wanted the original controls back.
Ill post the album a little later today.
