Hi, just enquiring if anyone has modified their chain tensioners. My chain slaps a fair bit and I have noticed the plastic block is worn. I was looking at maybe fitting a roller wheel instead, any info would be appreciated. Thanks, Greg.

Hey mate
throw up some photos of the worn down plastic that your talking about, but if you cant tighten it any more sounds like you need a new chain.

Hi Ramjam, there's a member on the forum that used to own a Hunter that put his own roller chain tensioner on. Message Decarbonizer on here and see if he can give you any info on it. The first model spyder we did had a roller chain tensioner on them, but they were trouble so got discontinued.

Hi guys thanks for your help, I will look into it further. Hi i have a 2008 spyder s that im renovating, the chain tensioner area is some thing im researching now, i have removed the swing arm part of tensioner , that has the roller bolted too., now with a worn poly plastic roller, problem being what to do next, as the section off the frame that is the welded section holding on tension roller swing arm if the chain link defaulted or chain comes off, it could wrap/ catch on it, Then the other problems with sparks from grinder if you cut it off, but still it would look a unworkman like area, section , (refferring to the weld area that holds the chain tensioner on.) I dont like the american universale chain tensioner, which has a little sprocket that runs in side the 530 chain, looks like some thing , requiring constant looking at, and replacing i would preferr a roller that was flat, that only had a low tension spring on it, and not in constant contact with chain So that the swing arm movement of the spyders rear end, So the chain ,only came in to contact with the (poly) roller, on maximum movement , sort of then just having slight contact minimal hitting by chain, image being like a skateboard wheel roller Any body got any ideas, DONT LIKE IDEA OF RADICAL SURGERY ON TENSION CHAIN ROLLER AND FRAME,
