Hi folks,
I'm about to put on the 30 tooth rear sprocket and need to change my chain and front sprocket as well. I've got the sprockets, but need to know what length chain to get? Any recommendations on what to get and where?

Hey mate take your old chain into your local bike shop and they should be able to give you one or alternatively you could take a few links out of your old chain if it is still in good condition. Benno you might be able to advise on what size chain he needs. Also what size is the frount sprocket ? And we're did you get it ? |

Front sprocket is from Hunter. I got in touch with them today, it's a 530x124, and a better price from Hunter than anywhere else I found!

The front sprocket is 14 tooth. Our spare chains come in at 124 link. But I'm not sure what the actual number of links is on his bike with the 30 tooth sprocket.

Maybe a silly question but changing the front sprocket does what exactly to the power?

I think a larger sprocket at the front is similar to a smaller on the back?
More top speed and slower acceleration?
do either of the sprockets affect accuracy of speedo?

No it won't affect the speedo in any way as it runs on a cable to the fount wheel, I found with the smaller rear sprocket I got faster acceleration check out my video in the DIY section.

Yeah the speedo is definitely attached to the front wheel so won't be out (looked into it when I changed the rear sprocket).
Don't think it's really worth changing the front sprocket as well then as the bike has a good acceleration to top end at the moment. Changing the front sprocket would sacrifice the top end assumably wouldn't it?

It's the same diff but a larger front sprocket on the 350 makes the chain rub on the cases. Best with smaller rear

In my case, I needed the new front sprocket to match with the new rear, since it's a different chain pitch. I expect bad things would happen if I tried to run a 530 chain and left the 520 front sprocket!

You can fit a 15 tooth sprocket on the front if you don't mind shaving a little metal off the crank case.
